Forty-four SKA students and six members of staff travelled to the very south of Austria to Nassfeld for a week of skiing. From absolute beginners to expert skiers, there was a huge variety with pistes suitable for all in the expansive ski area. There were also opportunities to ski in and out of Italy and one day all of the groups met there for lunch… pizza of course! The hotel and their staff were fantastic, serving incredible food in comfortable surroundings. Snow conditions were top notch, with a huge white out on the second day, followed by brilliant sunshine and clear blue skies for the remainder of the week. It was an amazing trip, which was enjoyed greatly by all.
Our 2019 trip to the USA is full but if you would like your child to join the waiting list, please contact Mr Blake. We are also planning a Sixth Form ski trip for next year so keep a look out for further details.
Below are some reflective thoughts from the students:
“I really enjoyed the ski trip as it gave me an opportunity to improve on my skiing. I was moved up to the advanced group even though it was only my second time skiing and the instructor commented on my progress at the end of the week, which was very uplifting. Overall, this year’s ski trip was a great experience and helped me to improve on my skiing skills.” – Luke Landau, Year 9
“The trip was great as I got to put my skiing skills to the test. I raced down the slalom course and jumped four feet in the air and took a fall, which was not a good way to end the week of skiing but I was laughing all the way through. I had the best time and I can’t wait for the USA trip next year!” - Evan-Isaac Cornish, Year 9
“The week was great! My favourite part was the night skiing where we could all come together to ski. It was such an amazing week playing in the snow with my friends. I loved Austria so much and I was sad that it had come to an end!” – India Rand, Year 10
