Skinners' Kent Academy awarded 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating

11/7/2016

Skinners' Kent Academy is delighted to announce that it is officially an Outstanding school as judged by Ofsted in its two day inspection on 8th and 9th June. The Academy community, its students, staff, parents and governors, are extremely proud of the fact that the Academy has been judged to be outstanding in every category, including its Sixth Form provision.

Key quotes from the report:
"The very high quality of teaching leads to pupils making outstanding progress."
"Outcomes for pupils are excellent......whatever their circumstances". "Excellent behaviour in classrooms and around the school means that pupils get on very well together and are exceptionally keen to learn".
"The curriculum helps pupils grow into self-confident, inquiring and resilient learners."

Executive Principal Sian Carr: " We have been determined and utterly focused, since we opened the Academy in 2009, to ensure that all our students achieve the very highest standards in all that they do so as to give them the brightest of futures. SKA is a very special place. It has been a tremendous team effort to reach an Outstanding judgement, however, we are not complacent and see this as a the stepping stone to even greater achievements for our Academy community"

Principal Matthew Tompkins: " We will get even better in the years to come as we embark on the next stage of our exciting journey. We are uncompromising in our high expectations of staff and students, but the sense of a strong community, based on mutual respect, is at the heart of our success. The Ofsted report conveys this clearly: 'a culture of mutual respect and trust is evident across the school'. "

Richard Sax, Chair of Governors: "The governors are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of the recent inspection and are pleased to have played their part in the development of the Academy. The governors and the Skinners' Company are clear that this success will be built on in the coming years as the Academy continues to grow, most especially in its Sixth Form provision."

And finally the students of the Academy, as described by Ofsted:
"The behaviour of pupils is outstanding. They are polite, friendly and outgoing. They are proud of their school and their achievements."
