On Friday 18th May, the High Sheriff of Kent visited students of The Skinners’ Kent Academy and lead an assembly at Skinners’ Kent Primary School. The High Sheriff is appointed each year by Her Majesty the Queen to represent her in the County of Kent. Students asked great questions surrounding what the life of a Sheriff entails and their roles and responsibilities, which includes supporting royal visits and the emergency services, as well as assisting with church, faith groups and local charities.
The visit enabled all students, from primary through to secondary school, to engage with matters relating to law and order. The Sheriff was particularly interested in the work of Academy students with their successes in the Mock Trial Competition at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court. The visit was another opportunity for students of all abilities and ages to hear from an inspirational leader.
