Students at the Academy are celebrating another year of excellent GCSE exam results. 71% of students achieved an A* - C grade in mathematics, with 66% gaining A* - C in English (93% in English Literature). Over the last seven years the Academy has seen a substantial improvement in the number of students making excellent progress in their subjects, which is reflected through one of our students Ben Rees who achieved five A* and 6 As. Ben said "I was really pleased – I was hoping for certain results and was delighted to get 11 A* and As. The teachers really pushed me and this is evidenced by the teachers' dedication and hard work."
Principal Matthew Tompkins said "We are delighted that the hard work and commitment of both staff and students at the Academy has led to these extremely pleasing and well-deserved results. The determination and willingness to learn from our students is reflected in both the Academy's excellent GCSE results and our recent Ofsted judgment of Outstanding. This year has seen a threefold increase in the number of students achieving three of more A* - A grades and is further evidence of Ofsted's findings that "…pupils benefit from the culture of high expectations and challenge, and make very strong progress across the school."
Following their GCSE results, students from The Skinners' Kent Academy have signed up to join our Sixth Form to study the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme. The Academy is amongst the first group in the world to be authorised for delivery of the IB Career-related programme (as a stand alone qualification) which is flexible, innovative and challenging to develop our students further. One student excited to be joining our Sixth Form is Sebastian Down, he said "I really didn't expect to get such good grades – I look forward to coming back to the Academy to study Maths, Art and Finance in the Sixth Form. The teachers were really supportive and really drove me to do well."
