Year 12 Mentoring: Drop Everything and Read

18/10/2018

Every Friday, all students and staff in the Academy Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) during afternoon tutor time. Sixth Form students are mentoring individual Year 7 students in their focus skills reading. It is impressive to see how these young people are providing the example of the whole student body as engaged, proactive life long learners who want to make a difference to the world around them.

This is but one aspect of the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) students complete in our Sixth Form, known as Service Learning. It provides them with an opportunity to put what they have learnt into practice and develop both their personal and professional skills to reflect upon their on learning, whilst developing their confidence and ability to take the initiative.

If you would like to learn more about our Sixth form and the flexible innovative curriculum it provides, please contact our Sixth Form team to find out more information - sixthform@skinnerskentacademy.org.uk. Our Sixth Form Open Evening will be taking place on Thursday 22nd November from 6.00pm - 8.00pm.
