The students’ day began with a live presentation from the NHS followed by their Dragons’ Lair task! Students had to research their chosen NHS career using Unifrog and the NHS website. Each Team included a detailed description of the career they were advertising, ensuring that the experience and qualifications required for the role were featured; many Teams designed their poster with some very imaginative and eye-catching designs! The students worked to a deadline and all finished posters were then judged by our team of ‘Dragons’.
Our ‘Dragons’ of the day, who kindly volunteered their time to take part in the Y7 activity, were:
- Hugo Pound – The Skinners’ Kent Academy Governor
- Amanda Mays - Careers & Enterprise Company
- Glenn Douglas - ex-CEO of Maidstone & TW Trust and Chair of Governors Oakley School
- Dave Fish - Maidstone & TW Trust
The students had a wonderful time, they were focused, calm, respectful and took immense pride in their work.
The ‘Dragons’ had tough decisions to make and finally awarded First, Second and Third place to three very deserving Teams. Two other Y7 Teams’ posters were ‘Highly Commended’ by the Dragons.
‘Kent Paintballing’ were exceptionally generous, and not only kindly provide all winning teams members with a FREE full day of paintballing, but also came into the Academy, in full paintballing gear, to present the prizes. Please find details of the Paintballing site here.
