Congratulations to Ben Fisher, in Year 8, who won a Young Writers Competition during the summer holidays. The competition encourages students to engage in creative writing by running competitions across schools and then carefully selecting winning poems for publication. Before writing his poem, Ben had the opportunity to participate in a Most Able and Talented poetry workshop, led by parent Louisa Campbell during Term 6, to develop his poetry and creative writing skills.
Ben said, “In English we had a task to write a poem on monsters for our Independent Learning. I looked up different monsters on the internet and chose to write about the Loch Ness monster. By writing the poem I have learnt about the lake where the monster lives and I feel really good about myself as I have written a poem that will soon be published in a poetry book.”
