Summer School

At The Skinners’ Kent Academy, we understand how much of a daunting time joining a new school can be for our young people.  We are very aware of the importance of building self-confidence to support a smooth transition from primary school to secondary school.

The Summer School runs during GCSE results week every August. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to experience their new Academy in preparation for September. The Summer School will be run by staff at the Academy. In previous years, it has been funded by the government but unfortunately this funding was removed. Due to its success, we have decided to source alternative funding to keep the scheme going.

Our summer school aims to:
  • Ensure literacy and numeracy learning is supported in the transition process
  • Allow students to familiarise themselves with their new environment
  • Support the completion of the summer work pack through a range of activities and trips.

The Summer School is completely free to Pupil Premium students, however there are limited number of paid places available for any other students who would like to take part.  The week consists of a wide range of fun, educational and team-building activities.  It will also include an activity day at an external location - transport to and from the Academy will be provided.
