Personal Development

At Skinners’ Kent Academy, we provide a well-planned and diverse Personal Development programme that supports students’ academic success, wellbeing, and future ambitions. This includes:

  • Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education

  • Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

  • Citizenship and careers learning

  • Hearing from outside speakers and learning about fundamental life skills

The Academy has a strong philosophy and determination to develop internationally minded people who recognise everyone's common humanity and are ready to share responsibility to create a better and more peaceful world. The world of 2030 and beyond is unknown but will likely be fast paced and ever changing. It is therefore important that we ensure our young people are adaptable, resilient and creative to deal with life beyond school.

Below you will see our Personal Development roadmap which outlines the offer that supports your child in being future ready as they progress through each year.  This is further supported by our work on ‘Character’ development, where students are provided opportunities to enrich their personal, intellectual and community character.

We understand there are many diverse pathways available after school, and we aim to ensure students have an enriched experience to support them to aim high.

We are committed to supporting all learners, including those who may need additional help. Through early identification of support needs, targeted interventions and one-to-one guidance, strong pastoral care and communication between stakeholders we ensure that every student, regardless background or need can succeed both academically and personally.  If at any point, you feel there is an area that we could further support, please do get in touch with their Head of Year.
