On Friday, 20 Year 10 students who are interested in engineering travelled to London to visit the City St George’s University. We were welcomed by Craig Sherwood and his team of University Student Ambassadors. Students then took part in an engineering workshop with Professor Sarah Stallebrass (who is the vice chair safeguarding lead for The Skinners' Academies Trust) and her colleague. Students got involved with how engineering works, building dames to stop water leaking through. They gained lots of valuable knowledge and understanding on all aspects of engineering.

We then had the privilege of a guided tour around the university; it’s 6 floored-library was certainly a showstopper amongst the students and learning that during the exam season it’s open 24/7. Many prominent individuals attended the university including Edward Jenner, Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair as well as Jawaharlal Nehru.

We then moved on to look at the engineering structure of Borough Market where students had time to taste the wonderful cuisines on offer.

It was an absolute pleasure to take these young people on a trip; they were outstanding in their behaviour and are a credit to our Academy community.
