Last Saturday, students, teachers and parents completed the annual ‘Matthew’s Mile parkrun’, promoting the link between exercise and positive mental health. There was a great community atmosphere with an abundance of the signature yellow T-shirts at the event, held in glorious sunshine at the beautiful Dunorlan Park. Our students were a credit to the Academy throughout, with the fastest student being Alfie Sullivan (Year 12) who set a new SKA student record of 21 minutes and 44 seconds, with fellow Year 12 student, Ben Skates, just behind with 22 minutes. David Essex (Year 8) also deserves a special mention with an incredible time of 24 minutes and 13 seconds. Mr Smith came in first place with a stunning time of 18 minutes 27 seconds. Many others also ran, jogged, walked or simply watched and cheered everyone on. This year, we also had several official student marshals who did a fantastic job.

A huge thanks to everyone who took part! The parkrun organisers wanted to “pass on our thanks for bringing such a lovely bunch of people to the park. We really enjoyed hosting you all and we look forward to next year’s event”.
