Year 12 Markerstudy Insights Day
Year 12 students recently enjoyed an Insights Day at Markerstudy’s Tunbridge Wells office, gaining a valuable introduction to both the business, roles and the wider insurance sector.
The visit began with an overview of the company before students took part in a careers carousel, rotating through interactive sessions with the Data, AI and Investigations teams. These activities provided a fascinating insight into the diverse range of career opportunities available within a modern business.
Students also benefited from expert advice from Markerstudy’s HR Lead, who delivered a practical session on creating effective CVs and preparing for interviews, helping students understand how to maximise their chances of success when applying for jobs and future opportunities.
The day was rounded off with a well-earned pizza lunch and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and network with employees. We are very grateful to the Markerstudy team for hosting such an engaging and informative experience.
Year 8 Employer Encounter: Exploring Careers in Construction
Nearly 180 Year 8 students recently took part in an Employer Encounter with a local construction company, gaining first-hand insight into the wide range of careers available within the construction sector.
The morning began with an engaging assembly, where students learned about the sector including the different roles involved in bringing new developments to life, the skills employers value and the earning potential across the industry.
Students then rotated through three interactive workshop activities. In the first, they explored how developers select suitable sites and make decisions about housing developments. In the second, students took on the role of sales and marketing professionals, identifying target buyers and creating interior design mood boards tailored to different customer demographics. The final activity encouraged students to reflect on their learning using the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) framework, helping them recognise and articulate the skills they had developed in a way that could be used in future interviews and applications.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for students to connect classroom learning with the world of work while developing their understanding of career pathways within a thriving local industry.
