On Wednesday, our Year 10 RS students attended the Jewish Wimbledon and District Synagogue as part of their AQA GCSE Religious Studies course.

Students were welcomed by Mike and Louise who toured the students around the Synagogue. Students saw the key features of the Synagogue including the Torah scrolls, the Ark and the 10 Commandments. Some students stood on the platform to hold the Torah scrolls and wear the Jewish prayer shawl, the tallit.
Students studied Hebrew text and experienced the Jewish practice of Shabbat at home.

Marcia said ‘it was really useful to see the Synagogue so that when we learn about it in class it makes more sense’.

Edvardas said ‘it was really interesting to hear from the Jewish experts about the cultures and traditions’.
